Department Leadership
The officers and leaders who guide BVFD's mission of service to northeastern Louisa County and Lake Anna.
Officer Structure
BVFD operates under a chain of command with elected and appointed officers responsible for department operations, administration, and member welfare.
Fire Chief
Joe Gordon
Takes command at all emergencies; has general supervision and charge of all apparatus and equipment; establishes standard operating procedures; appoints Assistant Chief and Training Officer.
Assistant Chief
Carlton Harlow
Performs all duties and has the authority of the Chief in the Chief's absence; carries out duties assigned by the Chief.
Captain
Daniel Ferrell
Directs company operations on the fireground under the Chief; supervises crews, enforces standard operating procedures, and oversees apparatus staffing.
Lieutenant
Jeff Simpson
Assists the Captain in directing company operations; takes charge of a crew or apparatus as assigned and supervises training at the company level.
President
Elaine Fiorillo
Presides at all meetings; signs contracts and agreements on behalf of the Company; appoints committees; biannually reviews finance records; ensures required reports are filed.
Vice President
Kate Maddox
Performs all duties of the President in the President's absence; leads all fundraising activities.
Secretary
Caitlin Clegg
Keeps minutes of all proceedings; maintains accurate member attendance records; issues meeting notices; preserves records and reports; acts as Company Parliamentarian.
Treasurer
Alan Holt
Receives and deposits all Company funds; disburses funds by Company order; maintains financial records and vouchers; prepares financial reports; ensures IRS Form 990 is filed annually.
Training Officer
Kyle Dean
Leads all Company training programs; assists the Chief with pre-fire planning; coordinates training with other officers; ensures minimum training requirements are met; provides annual training calendar.
